Neutral Countries During the War
During the war, the neutral countries, such as Sweden, Switzerland, Spain, Portugal, Ireland, and Turkey, continued to play football undeterred by the tragedies taking place around them. The only country involved in the war that remained at the same level of competition as before the war was Denmark. This was because of the leniency given to them under German rule. [1]
